I was checking on what’s going on with Hurricane Sandy on CNN and I made the mistake of browsing the comments section.

Random comments:

“Praying that God keep everyone safe out there on the east coast.”

“May God give you peace during this difficult time.  The Holidays around the corner and people losing everything is heart breaking.  Lord have mercy to the US.  President Obama has another challenge in his plate, but God will help you get thru this…..”

“Praying for all of the people that are there!!!”

It goes on and on. Reading through these pleas to their gods made me really sad for these people. I could not even find any silver lining in the situation. Not even the irony of the situation gave me something to laugh at. It just put me in a melancholy mood.

A hurricane ruining countless lives is still nowhere as bad as choosing to be an abject slave.
